LOSS ON RABBIT SKINS
AMERICAN FIRM SUED. NEW YORK. May 14. The jury in the New Jersey Court returned a verdict for 36,981 dollars in favour of John Elihu Body, of Cooraa, New South Wales, in an action against Loeb. Brothers, New York. Mr Body agreed to furnish Loebs with rabbit skins for the season 1920 against letters of credit. Loebs failed to accept the third and fourth shipments, which were then sent by Dalgety and Coy., Mr Body’s agents, to New York and London respectively, where they were sold at a sacrifice.
The verdict represents the loss entailed with interest to date. The court, dismissed Loebs' defence that the skins wero not of good quality, holding that the same were good and seasonable merchandise. —A. and N.Z. cable.
