SEIZED BY THROAT.
TWO WOMEN ATTACKED.
BRUTAL NIGHT ASSAULTS. MELBOURNE, May 7. Two women wero attacked last night by men at Chelsea, a seaside suburb 20 miles from the city. Miss Coombes, of Chelsea, was walking along a road at 9.45, when she was seized from behind by the throat and punched into insensibility. Mrs Evelyn Grimshaw, also of Chelsea, was the other victim. She was returning from the railway station when a man, who had been walking a few yards behind her, hit her on the head. Ho then tried to strangle lier. She appealed to him on behalf of her two children, and offered him her purse. Without replying the man made off. • ' A , Mrs Grimshaw was taken to hospital with a severe wound on the back of the head, a cut forehpnd and a bruised throat.
