MOROCCO SITUATION.
REGARDED AS SERIOUS.
Received May 18, 9.30 a.m. PARTS ; May 17. Political circles recognise that the situation in Morocco is serious. Abdel Krim still holds the initiative and persistent ons’aughts on widely separated outposts are gravely hampering the movements of the French, who are planning a big offensive for June. The Riffs for a fortnight have been besieging the blockhouse at Eiband, which is defended by 27 Senegalese under French nor -corns. The artillery is now shelling the besiegers preparatory to an attempt to relieve the garrison.— Sydney Sun cable.
