I '.’ho eighth annual festival of the Wellin rton Competitions Society will be held at the Town Hall from August 22nd to Se jtember 12. The syllabus arranged for this year's festival is the most comprehensive yet issued by the sooiety. The priies offered in tire various classes are tin largest in New Zealand, including eight scholarships. A number of special pri -.es are also offered, the most important beirg a diamond ring valued £2O for lad os’ vocal section, and a gold watch val re 10 guineas for chief piano solo. In adi ition, the society is offering a prize of £5 for a design suitable for the society’s pro gramme cover. The judges appointed are all of outstanding 'merit m their various professions. and their names are legion throughout Australasia.
