STRUCK BY LIGHTNING.
HOUSE IN AUCKLAND. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, May 16. An electrical disturbance between midnight and one a.m. was felt severely in Parnell, where damage was done to many chimneys. In one house all the electric light switches were shattered. In Laurel Avenue lightning struck the house of the late Mr T. Cheesman, took the top off the chimney, lifted the mantlepiece out of the place, and destroyed part of a valuable collection of china, and curios, wh ch had been donated to tin museum.
