COMMERCIAL TRAVELLERS. ASSOCIATION’S ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Palmerston North Commercial Travellers’ Association, combined with a smoke concert, was held last night in the club rooms, the president, Mr G. 11. Flint, -presiding over a large attendance, which included Mr J. A. Nash, M.P.

Many apologies for absence were received from members who were absent in distant portions of the country, including an advice by wireless from Mr Bernard Hughes on board the steamer Flora. Messrs R. Hogg and L. Wilson were absent on account of illness, the Wellington Association apologised for the absence of its representatives, and good wishes wore convoyed from Mr T. James. The annual report, as published yesterday in the “Standard,” was adopted. Incidentally, the president said that the association had contributed about £360 in all to All Saints’ Home. “It does the heart good to see the little children there, he said. “We cannot do too much for an institution like that.” Mr Flint expressed a hope that, in the future,* the association would redouble it 3 efforts on behalf of the home. (Applause). The balance-sheet, which f-howed liabilities (debentures) as £25 and assets £l7B 13s 6d, receipts £26 3s and expenditure £7 9s 6d, was adopted. ELECTION OF OFFICERS.

The election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Mr P. S. Rabone; honorary secretary, Mr Luke. Wilson; honorary treasurer, Mr W. Barling; vicepresidents, Messrs J. F Justice and S. A. Patton; committee, Messrs B. Hughes, B. Marsack, J. L. Davies, H. Robinson, A. Chupman, W. T. Royal and W. Knight.

GENERAL. The retiring “president made cordial allusion to the valuable services of Mr T. Parnell us treasurer and welcomed the incoming president to office, congratulating him on his election and prophesying a happy future for the association. Mr Rabone returned thanks for his election and warmly congratulated tho retiring president on his most successful year of office. The Wellington Association, lie mentioned, was cordially in sympathy with the Palmerston North organisation. In conclusion Mr Rabone expressed pleasuro at the attendance of Mr Nash at the meeting. The mattor of the local members journeying to Auckland in conjunction with the Wellington district members to play a football match at the northern city was discussed at length and it was decided to leave Palmerston North on July 23, tho annual ball to be held later in the year. THE TOAST LIST. Included in the toasts honoured were tho following:—“The Palmerston North Citizens’ Association,” proposed by Mr J. A. Nash, and replied .to by the president (Mr Rabone); “Tho Wanganui Commercial Travellers,” proposed by Mr G. W. Corbridge and replied to by Mr Lionel Follatt.

Musical items wore contributed by Messrs J. A. Nash, A. Chapman, A. Kennedy and G. W. Corbridge. Violin solos were played by Messrs S. Gough and Davies and the accompaniments by Mr J. W. Huggins.
