TENIKOITS.
LOCAL CLUB LAUNCHED. On Saturday afternoon, in the produce hall at the Showgrounds, the Palmerston North Tenikoit Club held its official ppenirig, when a largo number of members and friends attended. Four courts were available for play and all were kept fully occupied throughout the afternoon. This game, which is making its first apSearance locally, is played on courts about alf the length of a tennis oourt, the net, however, being set considerably higher, quoits substituting balls. The quoit, which is thrown over the net, must be caught by hand before it alights on the floor. On a successful catch being made, the object is to return it quickly in order to catch the opponents out of position, or in such manner that it cannot be caught on the full. Singles or doubles can bo played and the garno can be surprisingly strenuous.
