NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATIONANNUAL MEETING. The 23rd annual meeting of the New Zealand Hockey Association was held at Christchurch last Thursday evening. Mr

11. S. J. Goodman (Otago) presided. In moving the adoption of the annual report, tho chairman said that hockey was booming throughout Now Zealand and indications were that the game would progress better this year than last. The first provincial tournament was a success. It would have been nicer had there been more entries, but as a start the tournament was quite satisfactory. Poverty Bay had held the Nordon Cup for three years, and there was some difficulty found by other provinces in sending men to Poverty Bay. Perhaps a tournament for this trophy might be arranged also. Canterbury again won the Hatch Cup for primary schools, and it was about time more entries were received for this trophy. There were -applications from associations for affiliation to be considered. The New •Zealand Association was not in favour of having too many major associations. AUSTRALIAN TEAM’S TOUR. Advice was received that acceptance of the invitation to an Australian team to tour New Zealand could bo regarded as certain. It was stated that advice had also been received that a good representative earn would be sent, and that Australian players were keen to make the tour. The chairman said that with the tournament and Australian tour there was little possibility of an inter-island mutch being held. It was decided to take no action in this matter in the meantime. Mr Quaftermoin suggested that M:r L. H. Norton, who is at present in England, be given credentials from the New Zealand Association, and be asked to approach the English governing body with regard to a tour of New Zealand by an English team. No definite arrangements could be made yet, but much good might be done if the matter were disoussed. It was decided, on the motion of Mr Quartermaiti, that Mr Norton bo authorised to enter into negotiations with the English Association with reference to a tour, to take place not sooner than the 1927’ season.
