The New York police broke up ten Communist meetings, drove the members into the street and confiscated May Day literature. The Red Star liner Zeeland, on arrival at Halifax, reported that she received an S.O.S. from a ship in distress in latitude 44 longitude 64, but when she reached the spot she was unable to raise any message from the distressed ship.
