NOTES FROM FITZHERBERT.

The annual harvest thanksgiving service in connection with the Church of .England in Aokautere was held last Monday evening. The hall was prettily decorated for ,the occasion and the service was conducted by Rev. Dent, of Palmsrstcn North. The produce, etc., donaed by local residents, was later forwarded to All Saints’ Children’s Home, as also was the sum of £1 Is, being the collection taken up at the conclusion of the service. The annual meeting of the church people was held pn the same evening, and the following were appointed a committee for the ensuing year:—Mesdames Vowoll, Anderson, Gosling and Field, and Messrs Gosling, Vowell, Andersen, Hopprof t and Field (secretary and treasurer). Next Friday afternoon the annual prisegiving at the public school, which Has been delayed owing to the enforced closing of the school, will take place and, given a fine afternoon, there will bo a large attendance of parents and friends of the children. In case of wet weather arrangements have been made to hold the function at tho ha.ll. The first card party of the season was held the other evening and was well attended. Prizes donated by Mr Walter Gosling were won by Miss Shirley and Mr Gosling. A dance was held at the conclusion of the cards, music being sup* plied by Mr Alan Scott.
