ALTERATIONS TO TIME-TABLE

CONSIDERABLE LOCAL BENEFITS

Tho railway time-table alterations which came into force to-day are calculated to benafit Palmerston North travellers considerably. There bus been a genoral speeding up of the New Plymouth and Napier expresses, which, although in some cases it has entuiled cutting out minor stops, promises to give a large measure of general satisfaction. The Auckland limited and ordinary expresses are practically unalterel. Express time between Wellington and Palmerston North is now under three hours in nearly every case. The early mo rning rain to Wellington known as “Field’ express, is not altered, though the p service leaves Wellington at 5.40 p.m. instead of 5.55 p.m., arriving at Palmerston North at 9.40 p.m. Tho 7.10 a.m. mixed train frem P linerston -North for Wellington is cancelled. The southbound Napier expres; will leave here at 1.8 p.m. instead if 2.5 p.m., and is speeded up on the distance to tho Empire City, where t will arrive at 4.16 p.m. Passenge -s by this train lor Taranaki w.ll be enabled to make comfortable connection at Palmerston North with the New Plymouth express. The New Plyi outh to Wellington express will arrivt a quarter of an hour earlier at Palim rston North and will reach Wellingtoi at 6.3 p.m. instead of 6.50.p.m. NEW EXPRESS FOl PALMERSTON NORT [.
