Airs Florence Porter, organising secretary of th i Britisli and Foreign Bible Society, paid a visit to Feilding and district during the week. Air W. J. Smith presided o or the large meeting held at Colylon, when Airs Porter outlined the work, and mentioned that Rev. David Calder, su icessor to Rev. A. Thompson, is a New Zealander, a graduate of tho Otago University and that he had always been specially i: iterested in tho missionary work of the chi roll.

Tho following officers were elected:—Mr W. J. Smith, president; Airs Hocken and Air Pearce, vice-presidents; Aliss L. Al. Pearce, secretary; Aliases Menzies, Ireland, Vihs and Hocken, collectors. A dainty afternoon tea was dispensed. It was decided to start the annual effort at pnee. On Friday afternoon Airs Porter was entertained by the president of the Women’s National Reserve, when Airs J. Stalker gave an interesting address on tho work of the branch. The visitor congratulated the members on the fine work accomplished, especially the establishment pf a district home. FORESTERS’ LODGE. A spccia. meeting of the Foresters’ Court was held on Thursday evening when there were present visitors from Marton, Ashhurst, Dannevirke, and Palmerston North, the occasion being the ojtcning of the enlarged ami renovated hall. The building has been lengthened by 15 feet, anterooms being provided for ladies and gentlemen, wi tli necessary arrangements in quite up-to-date style. Five new members of tho court were initiated, the ceremony being carried out by i Jourt Alatiawatu in a dignified manner. Many old Foresters were present, notably B; o. W. Gichard, of Ararnoho, who specially made the trip. This brother, who was chief of the court some 46 years ago, gave an interesting account of the early struggles of the Foresters in Feilding. After spei'dies and songs had been given by rnemh irs and friends a pleasant function took place, the chief of the court, Bio. F. Taylor, presenting tho secretary, Air R. Hny hit tie, with a gold-mounted fountain pen, suitably engraved. Mr Taylor remarked that Air llaybittle had been secretary for the past six years and had just had a bir hday, which placed him over the allotted span of man’s life, but his energy seemed net. to be a hit abated, tho court having made great strides since ho took up tie duties of secretary. Air llaybittle, in reply, traced the history of the court during his secretaryship, showing that tile membership was increasing each quarter. He had keen offered an increase in salary several times, hut lie was content with his present remuneration and would go on with increased energy in the future to push on the interests of Forestry in Feilding, now knowing (hat his past efforts had been appreciated.
