VICTIM OF FASCISM.
VIENNA, March 26. Ilerr Hugo Bettauer, editor of the Der Mag one of the most brilliant of Austrian novelists, died from wounds inflicted by an Austrian Fascist, Rothwell, who fired six shots at Bettauer a fortnight ago. Bettauer was detested by the Conservative elements, owing to the Rudioalist unconventionality of his writings and the fact that he was a Jew. t He was bitterly denounced by the Fascists as the enemy of his country.—A. and N.Z. cable.
