FALSE DECLARATION.
RETURNED SOLDIER BEFORE COURT. Per Press Association. - GISBORNE, Feb. 7. A.returned soldier named William H. Richards was charged at the Magistrate's Court with making a false declaration in order to obtain a ■pension. It was stated that accused, while receiving an ordinary war pension, obtain«d an economic pension in addition by falsely declaring that he- was unemployed! whereas for some months he was constantly engaged. Counsel stated that accused was tempted as the result of sickness and inability to maintain his family.- Accused was convicted and ordered to come up tor sentence within six months.
