NEW PRESS LAW.
PROTESTS IN ITALY. Received December 9, 8.5 a.m. ROME. December 7. Tho text of the new Press law has aroused a storm of prptests. The penalties include six months to three years’ imprisonment for anyone publishing false news which may damage the national credit at homo or abroad, disturb public order, or prejudice diplomatic action. Other offences for which penalties are provided ure inciting the people to actions calculated to intensify class hatred, inciting to disobedience of the law relating to libelling the King, the Pope, or any institutions of the country, or the national flag.—A. and N.Z. cable.
