EXPLOSIONS ON A STEAMER. SEVERAL PASSENGERS MISSING. LONDON, Dec. 8. Port Louis (Mauritius) telegrams give thrilling details of the burning of the steamer Cigalo. A lire broke out in the hold, and explosions followed, blowing up several passengers and causing a panic, in which others Jumped into the sea. Captain Berenger liad hardly restored order and got the tire under control before a boiler exploded. Only one lifeboat was now intact and when the order was given to abandon the ship the women and children were placed in the lifeboat, which rowed to St. Denis, in the French colony Reunion. Seventeen other pasengers and some of the crew jumped on to the captain’s raft and were rescued later, but 23 on another raft were still missing.— A. and N.Z. cable. COLLISION IN IRISH SEA. NEITHER VESSEL MUCH DAMAGED. LONDON, Dec. 8. The steamer Nowsliera, belonging to the British India Company, collided with the steamer Latchmere in the Irish Sea. ABANDONED BY THE CREW. Received December 10. 10.25 a.m. PEKIN, Dec. 9. A Japanese freighter of GOOO tons was abandoned afiro near Swatow.
