TROUBLE IN TUNIS
NATIONALIST MOVEMENT. SHOCK TO FRENCH PEOPLE. [By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.] Received December 1, 10.10 a.m. PARIS, Nov. 30. The Times’s Paris correspondent says: “The revelation that a powerful Nationalist movement is developing in Tunis has come as a shock to the French people, who Jtad been led to believe that all was well in North Africa. Attempts are being made in certain quarters to allay the public anxiety by representing that the present upheavals are nothing more serious than an agitation tor social and municipal reforms, which leaves untouched the authority and prestige of France, but the majority of the Paris pres: ahe no secret of the gravity of the situation. The French Government is warned that, unless care is taken, France will soon find herself confronted with a Nationalist movement in Tunis similar to that confronting Britain in Egypt.” —Times.
