ENORMOUS SUNSPOT.
Per Press, Association. WANGANUI, Nov. 30. Extraordinary and unique activity on the morning suit's surface was recorded yds morning by the well-known astoronoliier, Mr J. T. Ward, at the Wanganui Observatory, lie states that an enormous sunspot passing the limb of ttie sun has given rise to colossal prominences, and seen through the spectroscope at the observatory it presented a wonderful sight. The prominences arc estimated to be 150,000 to 250,000 miles in height. They are to the kind and form known as metallic and quiescent and are of great variety. Mr Ward states that the spectacle is' unique ill astronomical research in the Dominion, although a similar celestial phenomenon on a smaller scale tvas observed ten years ago m Wanganui.
