South Australia, commenced in fine weather on a perfect wicket. New South Wales won the toss and batted, and lias lost 4 for 312—Rock 127, Andrews 99, Kippax not out 21, Ratcliffe 29. Rock opened the innings and batted confidently, scoring at a fast rate. He gave one chance, but played delightful cricket, a feature of the innings being his driving, which frequently rattled the palings.
