MOTOR FATALITY
SHOCKING OCCURRENCE. YOUTH KILLED NEAR CAMBRIDGE. Per Press Association. CAMBRIDGE, July 24. A shocking motor fatality occurred on the main Cambridge-Hamilton road near Leslie’s, gully last evening. A motor van, driven by E, Mitchell, who was accompanied by two lads named Harold Butts and John Raymond Looker, was returning, from u football match at Cambridge, and after passing another car they were ondoavouring to get on to tho crown of the road when they encountered loose sand. The car skidded and capsized. Looker jumped out, the ear falling on him and killing him instantly, his head being crushed. The other occupants escaped unhurt, hut they sulfered from shock The body was taken to Hamilton. The deceased, who was aged 19, was the youngest son of' John Looker and was a popular youth.
MOTOR CYCLE SKIDS. DEATH OF THE RIDER. HAWERA, July 24. John Joseph Doyle, a single man, aged 30, and a returned soldier, was found lying dead alongside a motor cycle and sidecar in the Main South road about two miles from Hawera. Marks on the road indicate that the machine skidded. The geceased suffered from a partially disabled leg, and it is thought that this may have contributed to his fatal fall.
