Mr J. W. Whittaker, clerk and treasurer to the Pohangina County Council, tendered his resignation at the meeting of that body to-day. It was decided that the resignation should take effect at the end of the month, the chairman (Cr. 11. W. Smart) to attend to the appointment of an actingclerk to carry on the business pending a further permanent appointment. In response to a request from Mr Little for reinforcements for the All Blacks for Saturday’s match at Palmerston North, J. Steel and A. Robilliard (three-quarters) and Q. Donald and A. West (forwards) are being sent here.
