FLOODS IN MADRAS.
RIVER BURSTS ITS BANKS.
Received July 23, 12.20 p.m. DELHI, July 22.
Heavy rain in the Madras presidency caused Ihe river Cauveiy to burst its banks and the wjitcr inundated a great area to a depth of eight feet. The river left its course at various points. Alany districts are isolated with enormous damage to property, and, it is feared, loss of life. Whole towns have been deserted by their inhabitants.—A. and N.Z. cuble.
