PROPOSED ABOLITION

In the Assembly, Air Stopford gave notice of motion to ask leave to introduce a bill providing for the abolition of capital punishment for murder, and the substitution of punishment in the first and second degrees, the penalty of those guilty in tho first degree to be penal servitude for life, and in the second degree punishment for 15 years. —Press Association.
