TAXATION OF RACING.
DISCUSSION AT DUNEDIN. (Per Press Association). DUNEDIN, July 25. During a discussion on taxation at the annual meeting of the Dunedin Jockey Club Mr Lough (treasurer) said lasi year the club collected £21,000 from tho publicarid handed it to the Government. He asked if arty other sporting body had to pay so much or wi»“ so overtaxed for the privilege of enjoying its spOrt. They did not object lo paying a fair share of taxation, but the taxation they were paying was “over the odds.” Mr A. C. Hanlon was re-elected president.
