SHOWGROUND AREA IMPROVED
A visit to the Showgrounds playing; urea was made by some ot' Liio members of the Mannwatu Rugby Union this morning. Tim oval was found to he in a considerably improved condition, tho work of removing the stones and rolling the ground having achieved the desired result. The Mannwatu A. and J’. Association lias agreed to a further working bee of school boys to remove the smaller pebbles which have worked to the surface and also to have loads of sand strewn on portions where the grass has not yet iullv taken. The recent weather lias not proved favourable to the growth ot grass, but, provided the remaining days of the week keep line, it is luily anticipated that the oval will be in first-class condition for the big game on Saturday.
