BY COUNCIL OF CHRISTIAN CONGREGATIONS. The Rev. W. Faneourt, of All Saints’, aiul the Rev. J. C. Abbott, of St. Peter’s, Terrace End, both of v|ho:ii are recent arrivals in Palmeistcn North, were accorded a welcome s.t last night’s annual meeting of tie council of Christian Congregations l*y the chairman (Mr G. H. Bennett), wic expressed tho pleasure that sucli uctun gave him. In referring to tiie frstnamed gentleman, the speaker stated thnt his coming to Palmerston N<rtli was hailed with delight by the council, the formation of which a year ago had been largely due to the efforts of Mr [ Fancourt’s predecessor, the Rev. H. G. Blaekburne. Mr Bennett assured the new vicar of the hearty goodwill and co-operation of tho other denominations in tliis town. j In welcoming the Rev. Abbott) the chairman stated that he was not altogether a stranger to Palmerston Jorth, as he had laboured in a neighbouring parish.
