ADJDINGTON MARKET. LARGE ENTRIES YESTERDAY. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, June 11. At tho Addington market entries were large to-day, and all round there was a good rnarkot. Store ewes.—There was an improvement in all classes, notably for wethers, which were up by Is per head, but also old ewes and lambs were likewise better. Good 2-toolh halfbred ewes in lamb 41s, sound-mouth crossbred ewes in lamw 375, 4,6, and 8-tooth crossbred ewes in lamb 33s 6d, 2,4, 6 and 8-tooth three-quarter-bred ewe's in lamb 30s 6d, good conditioned crossbred empty ewes 20s Id, good conditioned aged ewes in lamb 22s sd, aged ewes in lamb 16s to 20s 9d, 4 and 6 tooth three-quarterbrod wethers 33s 9d, 4 and 6-tooth halfbred wethers 33s to 33s 7d; 4, 6 and 8-tooth halfbred wethers 33s to 33s sd, lower conditioned 4 and 6-looth wethers 30s 3d to 325; full 2 and 4-tooth halfbred wethers 275, crossbred mixed sex lambs 22s 3d to 255, crossbred ewe lambs 25s 9d to 27s lid, crossbred wether lamb 3 21s 9d to 23s lOd, shown Romney-crOss wether lambs 20s 6d. halfbred wether lambs 22s Id, to 23s 2d. Fat lambs.—A small yarding of 1200, and a very keen sale. Good 421bs and under made Hid to Hid, inferior sorts being unchanged; extra prime lambs 395, a few reaching 49s 6d; prime 35s to 38s, medium 31s to 345; light 26s to 30s. Fat sheep.—A heavy yarding and an irregular sale, but generally last week's values held, though over the middle portion of the sale values were easier. Extra prime wethers 495, a few special 593; prime 40s 6d to 455; medium 36s 6d to 40s, light 30s to 365; extra prime ewes 41s, prime 33s to 365, medium 28s 6d to 323, light 24s 6d to 28s, aged 18s to 23s 6d. Fat cattle.—A fairly heavy yarding of 420 head. Generally tho market was a shade better than last week. Prime beef made from 30s to 33s per lOOlbs, medium 26s 6d to 29s 6d, light 22s to 265, and rough down to 12s 6d. Potters excited a demand for old cows.. Best cows £2 to £2 17s 6d, medium £1 10s to £1 17s 6d, inferior £1 to £1 ss. Fat pigs.—A medium entry, and a good sale, quite on aii fours with last week. Choppers £3 to £o 10s, light baconers £3 15s to £4 10s, heavy £5 to £5 153, extra heavy £6 9s; average price per lb 8d to Bid; light porkers £2 3s to £2 10s, heavy £2 15s to £3 10s ; average price per lb 8d to bid. Store pigs.—A small entry, and improvement for fairly well-grown animah. Weaners sold at late rates.. Values were an follow :—Small weancrj 7s to 10s, good to 16s, small stores 20.3 to 255, medium 335, large to 51s. STOCK MARKET. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Palmerston North, report, having a small entry of stock at their Hunterville side on Tuesday, tho 10th inst., which sold as below:—Four and 6-th wethers 29s 6d, 4 to 5-year breeding ewos 24s 6d, fair b.f. lambs 16s 7d, medium b.f. lambs 15s Id, cull ewes 9s, light fat cows £3 6s. weaner heifers 10s to 17s 6d, agod dairy cows £2. store cows 35a. IMPORTANT CLEARING SALE. On Tuesday next at No. 4 Line, Kolranga, there will be held, on behalf of the executors in the estate of the late Mr Arthur Lancaster, an important unreservod sale. The offering comprises 12 pedigree Jersevs and a very high grade herd of nearly . 100 head of high testing cows. Throughout the district the late Mr Lancaster was well known as a successful dairy farmer and there is no doubt as to the "high quality of his herd, built up by years of consistent culling and expert selection. The sale is entirely without reserve, every line offered to go' to tho highest bidder. Full particulars of tho sale will be found in another column. NATIONAL DAIRY SHOW. The poultry committee of tho National Dairy Show is cock-a-hoop. They have a very fine exhibition building to themselves; they have electric light in it, and they have a record entry. As to poultry proper, there may be a lew birds less, but there are to be pigeons galore. Visitors can separate themselves from the other distractions of the show and see a very fine display indeed. It will be a great poultry show for the cream of North Island birds will be there in full plumago. .It is said that one half the world does not know how tho other half lives and those that take no interest in poultry have no idea what a show like the one next week means to the poultry men and what trouble they will go to obtain the coveted prize tickets.
