CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Palmerston North "Chamber of Commerce was held last night, the president, Mr H. L. Young, presiding. Others present were: Messrs 11. Martin, W. C. Harrington, L. H. Collinson, M. H. Oram, J. Carter, G. T. McGregor and Mr J. A. Nash, M.P. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs French and O'Shea. Mr Harrington briefly referred to the advisability of revising the Bankruptcy Act, and he moved: "That the executive of the Associated Chambers of Commerce appoint a sub-committee to consider to what extent the Act can be amended so as to afford better protection to the trading community, and to consider the desirability of representations being put forward to Par-, liament, urging that all offences under future bankruptcy acts should be dealt with by the Crown Prosecutor at the public expense. Mr Nash said lie thought the latter portion of the resolution should be waived, the first portion alone being retained. It was finally decided that the first portion of the resolution be adopted, all words after "community 1 ' being deleted. It was resolved on the motion of Mr Collinson that the Borough Council be thanked for rounding off the corners of two newly-formed streets in the borough, and that the council treat all new streets similarly in future.
