OUTBREAKS OF FIRE.

Serious damage to Broadway property was averted by the brigade early oi: Sunday morning, when the office of Mr Horner, engineer, above Lower's drapery shop, was found to be on fire. Prompt action confined the flames to Horner's room, which was gutted. Lewer's stock was considerably damaged by smoke and water. The insurance on the building, which wa9 owned by Lewers, is £IOOO and on the stock £SOO. Horner's stock was insured for £45. The origin of the fire is not known.

NEW PLYMOUTH, June 9. A six-roomed house on Junction road, four miles from New Plymouth, was destroyed by fire on Sunday morning. It was owned by Mr John Hale, but was unoccupied. The building was valued at £750 and was insured for £SOO.
