ASHHURST CASE.

HEARING ADJOURNED

A man named Samuel Reid, who was charged in the Magistrate's Court yesterday with being drunk while in charge of a horse, appeared again before Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., at the Magistrate's Corut this morning. Accused was charged on this occasion with being, drunk in a street of Ashhurst yesterday and that at the samo time and place he did wilfully damage a gold watch and chain, the property of Constable J. P. K. Fischer, of Ashbust, to the extent of £l. • Acused, for whom Mr McGregor appeared, pleaded not guilty, to both charges.

Counsel said that some witnesses for the defence had not arrived at the Court and at tho suggestion of His Worship the case was adjourned till Monday next, bail being allowed in the sum of £5.
