OLD DISPUTE SETTLED.
GRANT TO AN EMPRESS. WAIVED FOR NAPOLEON RELICS Received May 7, 9. 20 a.m. PARIS, May G. The 25-year-old dispute between the late Empress Eugenie and the French Government has been settled. The Empiss in 1899 was awarded 2,287,000 francs from the Imperial civil list, but the money was not paid and is now due to the Empress' heiress, Princess Marie, the 12-year-old daughter of Prince Victor Napoleon. As the death duties and transfer fees amount to 4,500,000 francs, Princess Mario has waived all claims provided the state give her Napoleon's sword and cloak, which were the property of Queen Hortense.—A. and N.Z. cable.
