Mr G. A. Green, F.R.ILS., Dominion organiser of the New Zealand Nurserymen’s Association, who has been on an extensive tour of the Dominion, arrived in Palmerston North yesterday. He left for Auckland this afternoon.

At last night’s meeting of the Wanganui Education Board, a motion was carried, the members standing, expressing sym-. patliy with Mrs Opie in the sad loss she had sustained by the death of Mr F. D. Opie, formerly director of the Palmerston North Technical School. A letter is to be forwarded to Mrs Opie expressing the board’s appreciation of the splendid service performed by the deceased gentleman during his lifetime. Mr Harry Muller, formerly of Palmerston North, who held the responsible position of general manager of Fullers’ Theatres, Ltd., in Melbourne for some years and was recently transferred to Sydney, lias resigned from the firm and taken up an appointment as general manager for Musgrove’s celebrity vaudeville circuit, with headquarters at Sydney. In a letter to. a local resident Mr Muller mentions that two former Palmerstonians, Messrs Ernest and Noel Linton, have a business connection with tho firm, the former as solicitor and the latter as accountant.

Mr A. Grant, who is well known in sporting activities in this town, leaves on Friday to take up a .position with a business farm in the Empire City. During his 15 months’ residence in Palmerston North, Mr Grant has taken a keen interest in tho activities of the Palmerston North Operatio Society and the Savage Clubs, while he has proved one of the finest cricketers Manawatu has possessed. He has throughout the past two seasons been a member of the local represntativo- team, captaining it on several occasions, while he also had the honour of captaining the combined Manawatu-Wairarapa-Rangitikei team which put up such a splendid performance against McLaren’s English eleven last season.- He also figured in the ranks of the Wellington representatives in their matches against Auckland and the English eleven.
