CROQUET GALA DAY.
A SUCCESSFUL FIXTURE, Tlit ci oqaet gala day conducted in aid tf the Manawatu Croquet Association’s funds on the Manawatu Club’s greens yesterday, proved most successful, despite adverse weather conditions. The llxture was under the control of Mrs A. Rhodes Williams alid a committed, and refreshments were provided by' members of the various clubs takin 5 part. At the conclusion of play, Mr C. F. Spooner, president of the Manawatu Club, presented the prize.', donated in the events of the day. The expenses of the effort amounted to only six shillings and the sum of £5 5s will be handed over to the Manawatu Croquet Association. Tho competitions resulted as follows: Progressive croquet: Mrs Clarke (Mai awatu) 38, and Mr Tanner (Takaro) 29; angles competition, Mrs Mayes (Northern) ; golf croquet, Mrs Seroggs (Terrace End) ; pegging cornpetit on, Mrs A. Rhodes Williams (Kelburn, Wellington); break competition, Air W. J. Robertson (Manawatu); target competition, Mr A. HI ioc es Williams (Manawatu) ; French croquet, Mrs C. A. E'Ferguson (Manawatu) ; putting competition, Mrs Clarke (Manawatu) ; clock golf competition, Mrs Campbell (Manawatu).
