BOY’S NARROW ESCAPE.
RESCUED FROM RIVER. AUNT’S PLUCKY AID. HAMILTON, Jan. 29. A narrow escape from drowning was experienced by the seven-year-old son of Mrs H. G. Sheriff's, at the Narrows, Waikato river, near Hamilton, yesterday. Contrary to instructions he approached the river at a point where there is a shoal of shifting sand, and was soon immersed in the fast-running stream. He was rescued by his aunt, Mrs McColl, who noticed his predicament just in time. Mrs McColl’s act was all the more plucky considering the fact that she is unable to swim.
