LOAN FOR DOMINION.
NEW DEVELOPMENT WORKS. The Prime Minister stated in Wellington on Tuesday that, prittr to leaving London, he had applied on behalf of New Zealand for a special loan of £4,000,000, in connection with the offer made by the British Government to the Imperial Conference, of financial aid to the Dominions, in respect of new developmental works, in advance of programme. The Prime Minister remarked that he had conferred with the Chancellor of the Exchequer of tile lute Government, which had indicated that it would bo willing to make advances, in the nature of part of the interest on the capital involved. “It is, of course, subject to ratification by the new Government, and appropriation by Parliament,”. Mr Massey added. Mr Massey would not disclose his views as to whether the loan, if made available, would bo utilised in the construction of links of the East Coast Main Trunk Railway.
