TO DIVERT TRADE.
A TARANAKI SCHEME, CONFERENCE AT TE KUITI. TEKUITI, Jan. 28. At a meeting of the executive of the Te Kuiti Chamber of Commerce, a telegram was received from the New Plymouth Chamber, asking the local body if it could make arrangements tor a conference of business men from the surrounding district to discuss trade relations with Taranaki. New Plymouth being established as an ovesseas port, it is understood that the business men from there desire to lav before the public at Te Kuiti the possibilities of dealing with the export and import trade affecting the King Courtry, and the Waikato district. After some discussion it was decided to write to the Chambers of Commerce at Otorohanga, Kuwhia, Te Awamutu, Taumarunui. Hamilton and Cambridge to send two delegates to a conference to be held on Friday, February Bth. The delegates will be the guests of the Te Kuiti Racing Club on Saturday, February Btli. and will be entertained by the chamber on the two following days.
