BANDON NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

The neighbourhood was somewhat startled on Wednesday evening when it became known that a farmhouse in the vicinity of Sandou had been burgled and the intruder caught. t An employee on the farm gave chase and captured his man and after a struggle ho pluckily held on until assistance came some little time later. The burglar, on seeing that capture was inevitable, threw the stolen articles,, jewellery . and money, away, but most of this, if not all, has been recovered. Tho burglar was handed over to the care of tho police at Feilding. The employee was somewhat roughly handled in the melee and deserves credit for his plucky act.

An old resident, of the district, Mr Edward Oaple, passed away at. tho Palmerston North hospital on Monday night. The late Mr Caple came to this district nearly half a century ago. and had resided in the vicinity ever since. Tho remains wore interred at the Sandon cemetery on Wednesday.

The local seaside resort, Tnngimoaua, was a busy place on Wednesday. It Is estimated there were over 1000 people down for the day. The resort is.becoming very popular and on holidays there need to be some control, particularly as regards the traffic. Fortunately those wh6 annoy are only a few, and it only requires a little control to have this remedied. One motor-cyclist caused more than one mother a few anxious moments.
