FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.
COURT MANAWATU, A.O.F. The half-yearly meeting of Court Manawatu, No. 5055, A.0.F., was held on Monday evening in the Foresters’ Hall, C.R., Rro. F. Holgerson presiding over a largo attendance of members. Keen interest was taken in the election of officers, which resulted as follows:—Chief Ranger, Bro. W< L. Nant; Sub-Chief Ranger, Bro. M. Levy; treasurer, Bro. H. Fletcher (reelected) ; secretary, Bro. J, B. Rosanoski (re-elected); senior woodward, Bro, 0. S. Hunt; junior woodward, Bro. T. West; senior beadle, Bro. P. Mayo; junior beadle, Bro. L. Heatley; minute secretary, Bro. J. Smidt (re-elected); delegates to Friendly Societies’ Dispensary Board, Bros. Walker and Body; delegates to Friendly Societies’ Council, Bros. Walker and Smidt; building committee, Bros. Jones, Walker and Madden. In the card touranments, Bro. P. Mayo won the first prize for highest aggregate during the season; Bro. Sowerby second prize, and Bro. 6. Mayo first prize for the last tournament. Two new members were initiated into the Court and order by the 0.R., Bro. F. Holgerson, ably assisted by P.C.R., Bro. G. Walker. OROUA LODGE’S SMOKE CONCERT The fortieth anniversary of the Oroua Lodes of Druids, No. 5, was celebrated by a smoke concert in the
Odfellodws’ Hall last night, when A.D. Bro. Elsmor'e .presided oyer a good attendance, including many visiting brethren. The function proved most enjoyable and the tgast list was as follows: —“The King’k; “Grand Lodge of N. 1., N.Z.,” proposed by P.A. Bro. Cooksley, responded to. by P.D.P, Bro. F. Pycroft; “Kindred Societies and Visitors,” proposed by P.D.P. Bro. F. Pycroft, and replied to by representatives of the Oddfellows, Foresters, Rechabites and H.A.C.B.S. Lodges; “Oroua Lodge of Druids, No. fi,” proposed by P.D.P. Bro. Mansfield puakino Lodge, Feilding), and responded to by A.D. Bro. Elsinore; “Medical Officers,” proposed by Secretary Bro. Mewett; “TJ.F.S. Dispensary,” proposed by P.A. Bro. Bennett and responded to by Bros. Shannon, Northey, F. Pycroft and Rosanoski; “The" Ladies” and “Musicians.”,. , , During the evening' musical items were contributed by Bros. Guy, Robb, W. Young, Mansfield, Jeffries and T. Mathio. The accompaniments were played by Mr Frank Miller.
