IRRIGATION SCHEME.
GREATEST IN THE WORLD. DELHI, Oct. 24. The Governor of Bombay inaugurated the greatest irrigation scheme in tho world when he laid the foundation stone of the Lloyd barrage at Sukkur. A huge dam will regulate tho fidw.fof The Indus and distribute its Gators through seven great canals and a thousand miles of, tributaries over ah area of eight million acres, now chiefly desert. The project is designed to bo carried put by engineers of the Public Works Department of the Government of Bombay. The 'latter will also meet tho whole coat of the project, which is estimated at sixteen million pounds.—A. and N.Z. cable.
