LADIES' GOLF.
CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING.;(Per Press Association.) . \ " NELSON, Sept. 6. The New Zealand ladies'- championship golf tournament opened at 'lahunanui links this afternoon in glorious weather. Play was devoted to the in-ter-island match, resulting in a. narrow win for north. The links were in good order, but generally speaking the visitors found the. greens too keen, combined, in some instances, with the turf oil the rough side for true putting. Following are the results, North Island players being mentioned first Miss Pay-ton defeated Miss Cracroft Wilson, 3 and 2; Mrs Slack and Miss Dixon, all square;. Miss Robison lost to Miss Beadle, 4 and 3; Miss Vigor Brown lost to Miss Acheson, 1 down; Mrs Collinson defeated Mrs Mowbray, 8 and 1; Miss Bell defeated Mrs Kingscote, 2 and 1. Zealand Golf Council have advised that the ntional handicaps of the following members of the Manawatu Golf Club, have been reduced since the previous allocations were made, and they are' now as follows: 0. E: Druce, 9; W. L. Fitzherbert, J; J, E.'Lewis, 8; K. Stewart 10.
