Mr W. 11. K. Gilmour lias been appointed acting-secretary to the Alanawalu Gorge Road Board of "Control. Mr ■). 11. Richardson, who has retired from tho position of Government Insurance Commissioner, was this week presented at Wellington with an album containing the names of tho staff of the department.

Mr S. Whitehead, who was for four years on the staff of Abraham and Williams, Ltd., left yesterday for Tauninruntti, having been translcrred to the position of accountant in the firm’s branch there. Un Wednesday he was made the recipient of a presentation from ids fellow employees. Mr R. S. Abraham, chairman of directors, in presenting Air Whitehead with a travelling bag and several other items, made reference

to the many qualities which had made the recipient, so popular. Messrs Monrad, i.arcomb and Ker.D.ke also spoke in eulogistic strain, and wished him every success in his new appointment. In tho evening Mr Whitehead was presented with a suit-case and travelling rug by Mr A. llamiay at a meeting ol the (lid Boys’ Football Club, an organisation of which Mr Whitehead had been secretary since its inception. The captains of tho various teams also spoke and made mention of tiro recipient’s work for the euro.
