RIVER BOARD'S UNDERTAKING

At the last meeting of the ManawaluOroua River Board, at which were present Messrs R. T. Bel! (chairman), H. Wilton, !L Akers, M. V: Anderson. A. Soiferl W. S. Carter, "w. Smith and X. P. (', Hay) was in attendance and reported thai the "preliminary survey work in connection with the flood protection scheme would lake three months to complete. A letter was received from a South Island engineering linn offering to carry out all excavations in connection with the hoard's undertaking at a fixed price per cubic yard, the linn agreeing to provide its own machinery and labour. The price quoted was a most satisfactory one. and it. was decided to communicate with the linn at a later date when the board has finally decided on some definite scheme.
