SEOUEL TO A RAID.
FINES INFLICTED AT PETONE.
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 23,
As a sequel to a recent raid, George Phillips and James Fanchelle, tobacconists, of Lower 11 utt; Fritz Hugo Dulling, late steward of Petone working men’s club, and now a tobacconist of Petone; Robert Henry Jones, of Petone, ex-railway workshop employee; Janies Sedott, barman, of Petone, were charged at Petone with keeping a common gaming house. Phillips and Fanchelle pleaded guilty and were fined £75; Seddett and Jones pleaded guilty and were fined £SO. Dolling pleaded not guilty. Evidence was given of bets allegedly made with Dolling, in whose premises it was stated a sound-proof telephone booth was installed. Mr Hunt S.M., reserved his decision.
