COMPLETELY BROKEN DOWN. EMPLOYERS "CANNOT PAY SALARIES. By Electric Telefrraph— Copyr^nt, Received September 1, 1.45 p.m. LONDON, Aug. 81. The Berlin currency has completely broken down. Only the very early callers at the banks had their cheques cashed. There were heated altercations with the employers on finding that they could not pay out the monthly salaries, the workers receiving only a portion of their wages. The printing presses will work ceaselessly during the week-end. The daily output is three thousand million marks, including notes of ten thousand marks denomination, which are likely shortly to become .small change. The increasing prices may necessitate a still greater output of paper money.—Times.
