A PROFESSOR’S DISCOVERY.
FAT PEOPLE MADE THIN. VANCOUVER, May 25. The oyes of stout Americans and their friends arc turned toward Germany as a land of promise. The modern spy—the cable correspondent—has sent strange stories of fat people made thin, and unshapely ankles robbed of their power to offend the eye. J.'at men and fat women will scon bo memories if a discovery made by Dr. Philip Bockenheiiner, the famous Berlin surgeon, leads to tho results looked for. 'The doctor, who first acquired renown during the war for his skilful operations, lias reduced ihe size of the ankles of several well-known European dancers, including Saharet, who originally came from Australia. Ho has also reduced a middle-aged man from 220 pounds to 170 by simply cutting out the fat. , , So far all of tho surgeon s patients have gone through the operation in good shape and have felt well after spending a few days in Bockenheimer’s hospital. After an operation a few stitches in the back of tho log near the heel or in the waist show whore the fat lias been removed to make an ankle more slender or to reduce a girth. Professor Bockenlioimer’s discovery came to the ear of a Spanish woman, who invited him to go to Spain. He will operate there for two months on both men and women. Ho was in the Dinted States 11 years ago, and has travelled extensively in Asia.
