Vegetables, particularly cauliflowers raid cabbages, are very scurce, owing no doubt to the high l prices obtaining- in Wellington, local growers taking full advantage of the city market. Apples, especially Dougherty, sold" at 5s Id, 5s 3d to 7s 6d per bushel case, Sound potatoes'up to 8s per cwt; ironbark pumpkins 5s 6d to 6s sack; onions, Us to 12s: eggs, 2s 9d dozen; bacon, sides 9d, rolls lOd; hams, 8d; chuff (inferior), 3s sack; fair ss. There is an increasing demand tor used furniture. We received three big consignments from the suburbs last week, and sold the lot at almost new prices. Poultry dropped since previous Saturday’s sale. Although we penned 610 head, fat lions made up to 3s 5d each, turkey hens 5 s to 5s Id each, but good W.E, pullets made to 5s 9d each.
