WONDERS OF WIRELESS.
IMPORTANT DEVELOPMENTS. LECTURE GIVEN BY MARCONI. By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. NEW YORK. .June 21. In connection with Mars’ nearest approach to the earth, and following upon some experiments made at Sea in that connection, Signor Marconi lectured before a body ol engineers, when he revealed some important developments for the improvement of Hire loss. He said he had devised a method of sending radio waves in a given direction instead of spreading them broadcast by means of reflectors somewhat in (he manner that a mirror reflects the rays of light. This had been done between Birmingham and London, thus making possible a clear speech in two places at the same time. The reflectors increase the loudness by 200 times and assure transmission without distortion. The same device could he used at sea between ships for bearings. He also said ho had obtained results going far to show the relative facility with which radio signals can now bo, sent from England to Australia, and which seem to indicate that there is something in the idea of wireless waves travelling around by various ways and returning at the Antipodes.—A. and N.Z. cable.
