SOLDIER SETTLERS.
RESOLUTIONS AT CONFERENCE. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, June 10. At tiro meeting of the Dominion Council of tho New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association the report of the Land Committee recommended that as soldier settlers have undertaken obligations to the country, and are now asking concessions, it is therefore considered that tho first and guiding principle is that every soldier settler is morally bound to make an earnest endeavour to carry out those obligations to the very best of his ability, so that the highest confidence may exist between the soldier settler as tenant and his common landlord the Crown; and also that the Government bo urged to deal with questions of tho Discharged Soldiers’ Settlement Act and its administration during the folluvy-

M ho committee affirmed the general principle of revaluation and that some moans ! should be devised to remove the present difficulties, and that to remove the atmo--1 sphere of uncertainty and insecurity until the revaluation takes place nil rentals and interest charges should bo reviewed immediately so as to give the soldier settlers a reasonable chance of retaining their holdings, and that for this purpose a committee of three competent farmers in each land i district put such policy into operation; and that soldier settlers should not bo asked to pay rates on higher values thaa the adjoining owners on similar lands*
