RUNAWAY TRAMCAR.

INCIDENT AT WELLINGTON. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, .Line 10. A runaway traiacar this morning had a remarkably safe run of over a mile. The car. which* was empty, was standing at the Botanical Gardens in Tinakori road when by some means the brakes were loosened ahd it, started off on the down grade. The motorman and the conductor wore standing on the footpath and wore unable to ca tch up to the moving car. Fortunately no up-cars appeared on tho track during the speedy run or else there might have been a disaster. When the car reached the junction ai Molesworth street it jumped the rails and crossed tho_ footpath,, ending its career in a vacant section. The car was slightly damaged.
