Advices from America say thai it is proposed in form a shipping corporation vviili ii large capital in which will be merged all ilic American shipping concerns at present operating in the Pacific, the object being to control one line between the United Stale;. Japan, China, the Philippines, Australia and India, ll is hoped to include the Pacific Mail Steamship Company and ihe Pacific Company. If the proposal matures, ii is intended to take over 14 American passenger liners hom the American Shipping Hoard. Local shipping offices are noi acquainted with the proposal.—Press Association.
